Professional Associations

You may wish to explore association sites to glean career information and get involved to meet like-minded people!

A professional association is a group of people in a specific occupation who join together to help sustain their profession.  Typical activities include planning professional development opportunities such as workshops and conferences, setting standards for the practice of the occupation, and disseminating news about new procedures, research findings and legal / government regulations.

This is just a small selection of what is out there:

For whatever profession you are considering, there is probably a “BC Association of…” or “Canadian Association of…”.  Just try Google and you will find many different groups out there.
